Capital Culture

Capital Culture represents a number of photographers and artists who share an aesthetic appreciation of the world.

David Zimmerman.  David's Desert series won him the Iris D'Or at the 2009 Sony World Photography awards.  His images are inspired both by the natural beauty of the South West of the United States, but also the casual damage inflicted on these environments by modern man.  His pictures are both technically and visually stunning, their beauty belying the very serious message each image contains.

John Kenny.  John has visited the remotest corners of Africa to document tribes that continue to maintain their tribal heritage.  His black and white portraits are testaments to proud histories increasingly threatened by the growth of urbanisation and climate change which is wreaking havoc on traditional ways of life.

James Sparshatt  specalises in Latin music and dance in particular from Cuba El Naufrago by James Sparshatt and Argentina.  His images convey rich emotional power and natural rhythmic exuberance. James was also shortlisted for the Sony World Photography awards in 2009 and was a winner of the Center for Fine Art Photography International award in 2008.

Monica Denevan captures the spirit of the Burmese people in beautiful images.  The individuals live in remote regions far from the changes wrought by industrial development, with a traditional culture that remains linked to the past and the intangible spirit of their homeland.  Monica's images have won numerous awards including as a winner of the Center for Fine Art Photography's International exhibition award.

Ilona Karwinska Ilona's most recent project 'Polish Neon' explores the disappearing world of communist era neon graphics.  It has recently been exhibited in the Palace of Culture and Science, Warsaw, and the Architectural Foundation of Luxemburg. Ilona was named one of Warsaw's top creatives in 2007.

Rachael Dalzell is a young artist whose drawings and large canvasses are inspired by the natural environment in regions renowned for the starkness of the landscape.
