RACHAEL DALZELL
Drawings
Dalzell trained at the Wimbledon School of Art with a focus on figurative art and portraiture, she also completed an Erasmus programme placement in Madrid. Drawing from life is not just about capturing the bodily form but also the mood of the subject, using charcoal to emphasize shadow, light but also demeanour. When this technique is applied to the mountains of Skye on a cold, blustery, winter's day it produces landscapes that summon up not only the majesty of a snow-capped peak but also the biting chill of a northerly gale.
