John Kenny In 2006 John Kenny undertook an extended trip in Africa. His route took him from Durban in South Africa to the sand dunes of Namibia and the mountains and cultures of Ethiopia. He is continuing to build on a body of work from his recent travels through Asia. He has a passion for simple and beautiful composition, illuminated by natural light. His images provide an emotional insight into daily life. 'Travelling through some of Asia's forgotten countries was an incredible experience. Trying to capture the essence of local people in a spontaneous and candid manner was challenging, but these moments cannot be forced. I purposefully abandoned any strict themes; my aim was just to photograph ordinary people in extraordinary situations. Sometimes, every once in a while, a beautiful moment occurs.'
