JOHN KENNY   Namibia 2009 The Himba live in the desert regions of northern Namibia.  The women perform most of the labour intensive work including looking after the herds of cattle and goats and trekking long distances to collect water.  For decoration and perhaps sun protection they cover themselves with otijze, a mixture of butter fat and ochre.  This is also used to coat their braided hair.
